Since 2008, sixteen movies featuring the 53-year-old actor, Robert Downey Jr. have grossed more than $3 billion in the U.S. alone.
We know that this actor faced a miserable life before his Iron Man debut in 2008. Arrested for drug addiction... But, how he managed to turn his life so inspiringly?
1. Concentrate on your small moves
"I found my way out of the woods by a subtler and subtler trail of bread crumbs.", Downey said in Esquire interview. For defeating the biggest demon inside his body(DRUG ADDICTION), Robert slowly converted into a sober in nearly 7 years after 2000 and regained his credibility as a professional.
2. Dont feel shy to take help.
Even after he controlled his drug addiction, Insurance companies refused to grant him recovery as they were not satisfied at his behaviour.Gibson, who had co-starred with Downey in the 1990 movie Air America, offered to put up Downey's insurance bond, enabling him to get the lead role in the 2003 movie The Singing Detective. Downey not only did his work as promised but also turned in an excellent performance , proving to Hollywood that he still had the abilities to be a star.
3.Believe in talent, not in people.
Iron Man(2008) Director Jon Favreau has said in an interview.. "Here was this force of nature, who I think was living with this frustration that he wasn't able to really show what he was great at, because nobody was willing to take that leap and say, 'This guy could carry my movie.' Nobody was willing to jump in the pool. I was.".. Robert wanted a chance to strongly prove himself.. and he did in this film.
4.Develop Self-Discipline
Downey developed the discipline to stay away from Drugs by taking up Wing Chun, a Chinese martial art that emphasizes close-in hand-to-hand combat, which develops intense focus and inner calm. "Wing Chun teaches you what to concentrate on, whether you're here or out in the world dealing with problems," Downey explains. "It's second nature for me now. I don't even get to the point where there's a problem." He's become so dedicated to the art that he takes lessons three to five times a week, sometimes bringing his instructor to the set when he's shooting a film.
5. Control your wants.. and develop flexibility.
The Avengers(2012) got a huge applause all around the world. The critics and Director,Joss Whedon praised Downey for his fit into director's vision and coping with the team of other star actors in the film. Downey don't show pride at the sets, which is making him a Universal star.
